Aspirin has been termed a wonder drug though asthmatics, people with severe kidney and liver diseases, bleeding disorders, under blood thinner medications are supposedly to be kept away from aspirin. Since its launch in 1900, the uses of aspirin are still being discovered. From the discovery that aspirin eases fever and pain from flu to the discovery that men under aspirin medication avoiding heart attacks to kids consuming aspirin to avoid Reyes' Syndrome to the proposal by FDA to use aspirin to treat heart attack and stroke and a low dose to prevent heart attack to the discovery that aspirin reduces the risk of dementia and some cancers. Yes, the Apollo astronauts had aspirin with them while landing on the moon.

Bayer launched the drug and continues researching on its uses and has managed sales of $2.4 billion in 2008, not to forget the scientists who won the Nobel in 1982 discovering how aspirin works.

Talking of medications, consuming medications on time is also a big problem with patients forgetting their regular doses. These patients can now embed a chip in their shoulder and be reminded, well, by the pills themselves, they too having tiny chips within. The shoulder chip would receive wireless signals from the pill chips. The pill chips are digestible. Not consuming medications at the right intervals bring down the benefits of the drug but the problems the chip consumption may bring about needs to be seen, well, anyway the doctor can feel relived that his patient is on a strict regime.

Clever marketing is taking a beating. Stock up those flavoured cigarettes if you stay in the US, they are going to go off the shelves very soon. It is believed kids and young adults are becoming regular users of cigarettes after having started off with smoking flavoured cigarettes. They could have chosen from chocolate, vanilla, clove and other flavourings. Like in the Harry Potter books, whether vomit and other flavours were included is not known. Every day, some studies have shown that 3,600 children and teenagers start smoking and 1,100 become daily smokers. It is not known if mommies used to encourage them since 17 year olds and younger used to believe that smoking flavoured cigarettes was safer. The tobacco scent has been cleverly masked with vanilla and what not, perhaps creating an impression of having a health smoke likewise consuming a flavoured health drink. :-) FDA is to have it banned very soon.
